Having a show at the Ansonia Windows is both an honor and an adventure. With its windows facing 6th Avenue, there is not only a large audience passing by but a vast amount of traffic as well! Paul Oratovsky, the curator, told me that I needed to wire-the-wires in the back with tape, with a small space in the middle for the hook, so the pieces would stay in place despite the trembling caused by traffic and subway. I had to bring my pieces a day earlier than planned, due to a possible strike in public transportation. I'm glad I did, for sure enough, the whole town went flat the next morning, and the tunnels were closed! Paul offered to do the hanging and did a great job at that. My second show in the New York; there is truly no place like it. |
